Experience and Background
Mr. Brown is a second generation builder he grew up in the building industry starting in 1980 at the age of fifteen working as an apprentice in the family owned construction company owned by his father building custom homes. At the guidance of the family owned business he learned first hand all phases of building from ground up to completion. " I remember one of my first jobs with my fathers business was to mix mortar, set up scaffold and carry blocks and at fifteen and hot in the summer believe me it was quite a learning experience". Then it was on to framing, roofing, siding, drywall, interior trim, cabinetry, heating, plumbing and electrical. All together about fifteen years hands on experience in building custom homes. While he was in his last three years of high school he attended a trade school for electrical construction and applied technologies. He worked for a commercial electrical contractor during that time for two years then after high school went into the family business full time.
In 1996 Mr. Brown relocated to Charlotte NC. and was employed as a project manager for Beazer Homes USA where he gained valuable production home experience and averaged building over 75 homes per year. He built a 62 home community in south Charlotte start to finish in 11 months. During his employment with Beazer Homes USA he built in such areas as Lake Norman, Huntersville, Pineville, Matthews and all around the greater Charlotte area.
Mr. Brown was then highly recruited by Colony Homes Inc. of Charlotte NC in 1999 as a builder and again proved himself as a top builder within the company. He was awarded twelve times builder of the quarter, seven times builder in customer satisfaction. One of his top achievements with Colony Homes was in 2000 when he built and closed 93 homes in one year and was awarded Colony Homes builder of the year. He then acquired the production managers position in early 2001 and was manager of several builders and assistant builders with in the company until late 2002.
Mr. Brown then decided to make a career change and join up with Cambridge Homes Inc. in 2002 as a builder/ manager and was again rewarded several times for customer satisfaction, builder of the quarter and was Cambridge Homes builder of the year in 2003. He stayed with the company when it was purchased by Westport Homes until late 2006. One of his bigger achievements was to build a model home for the company in 30 days start to finish and it is featured on their website and publications. With all experience that he has gained through his career as a top builder in the industry and along with his business ethics and dedication he is no doubt one of the top home inspectors and custom home builders in the business today.
